On October 29, 2008, the family law committee of the TYLA premiered its video Healing the Wounds: A Guide to Navigating the Legal System after Surviving Domestic Abuse . TYLA director Kristy Piazza presented the video to the staff of the Genesis Domestic Violence Shelter located in Dallas, Texas. The next day, the video was showcased by TYLA president Sylvia Cardona along with TYLA directors Alfonso Cabañas, Alyssa Long, and San Antonio lawyer John Zepeda at the San Antonio Battered Women's Shelter.
In an effort to raise domestic violence awareness across the State of Texas, TYLA will present the video throughout battered women's shelters across the state. Also, the video will be distributed to every battered women's shelter in Texas.
The video was developed and written by TYLA directors Natalie Koehler, Jobe Rodgers, and Kristy Piazza. Cathy Davenport, of Left Brain Creative Productions, produced the video, which is also available in Spanish.
