TYLA Affiliates are starting the new bar year with a bang! From DAYL's 3rd Annual Freedom Run to the CLE Cruise jointly sponsored by HYLA, Galveston County YLA, and Fort Bend County YLA you can find exciting opportunities in your area.

Opening ceremonies begin at 5:30 p.m., with the 5K run and 1K walk scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. During the race and afterwards, attendees can watch the free concert, headlined by national recording artist Jack Ingram.

Freedom Run proceeds benefit the Assist the Officer Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, which helps families of Dallas police officers in times of need. This year’s Freedom Run is dedicated to the memory of Corporal Bill Carollo, a 20-year veteran of the Dallas Police Department who was recently killed by a drunk driver. Carollo was a father and co-founder of the foundation. Law firms and legal service providers may sponsor a Corporate Team. Corporate Teams will receive additional exposure before, during, and after the event. Full year of CLE available. The Cozumel cruise (Feb. 19 - 23, 2004 departs/returns in Galveston. The cost is $350 - $430 per person for travel (excluding port taxes)plus $150 for the CLE courses. Classes will be served "buffet style" and will re-cap developments in major areas of law, and will also include things you need to know because you're the "lawyer in the family."

11.25 MCLE Hours (2.75 ethics). Covers important issues in administrative practice, including evidence and discovery, ethics and ADR, personnel issues, UDJA, and HIPPA. Inaugural EIF luncheon. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. and lunch begins at noon. The EIF, a national 501(c)(3) public foundation launched last year by 7-Eleven, Inc., is dedicated to removing economic obstacles to higher education by providing college scholarships for hard-working young people who show academic promise and financial need. The Luncheon, expected to gain significant media attention, represents a partnership between the corporate and legal community.
