The promise of equal access to justice is one of the basic foundations of our democracy. Texas attorneys continuously strive to make the promise of “justice for all” a reality for Texans living in poverty. The video portrays the story of "Melinda," a domestic violence survivor, and her journey through the legal process. The goal of the program is to educate victims of family violence about their legal rights.

Hopefully, after viewing this program, some of the victim's fear and confusion about the legal system will be eliminated.

This program is designed to be shown at battered women's shelters, police departments, county and district attorney's offices and other agencies that assist victims of domestic abuse.

Justice 101 was designed as a tool for attorneys to educate clients who are new to the litigation process. This 20-minute video explains the steps of the litigation process, from pleadings to trials to alternative dispute resolution. It also introduces important concepts such as the attorney-client privilege and the need for candor between lawyer and client.

TYLA's Legal Guide for Cancer Patients, prepared by a committee of Texas attorneys with guidance and input from several cancer advocacy centers, is intended to be an informative resource upon which you or your loved one can rely to answer legal questions like, "Am I entitled to time off work?", "Should I have a will?" and "How do I tell my doctors that I don't want to be placed on life support if my condition is terminal?"

“Texas Probate Passport” has been prepared to inform the public regarding: (1) what happens legally to the property of a person when he or she dies with a will or without a will (see tab entitled “To Will or Not to Will”); and (2) how the probate process works (see tab entitled “Probate in Texas”). The “Checklists” tab provides lists to assist in preparing a will, and in preparing for probate. The Texas Young Lawyers Association (TYLA) seeks to make Texas residents aware of how the law (the Texas Probate Code) affects them and their families. This handbook is not a substitute for the advice of a lawyer, but instead is designed to assist Texans in learning about their legal rights.
