College for a Day
By Gindi Eckel - Guess what amazing project TYLA is serving up this month? College for a Day! What is College for a Day? Well, I’m glad you asked. The purpose of this new TYLA program is to provide an interactive, hands-on college experience for 7th - 9th grade students. Hopefully, College for a Day can encourage the participating students to stay in school and help them recognize college is an achievable goal. (continued)

Remember why you became a lawyer

By Philip Mack Furlow - Most lawyers I talk to today are tired: tired of the hours, tired of dealing with everyone else's problems, tired of the partnership track. I know that in my own practice I face burnout at least once or twice a year. Many times I ask myself, Why do I put up with this profession? Just when I have about had it with being an attorney, something usually happens to remind me why I became an attorney in the first place. (click here for more)

TIPS FOR YOUNG LAWYERS

By Robert Witte - As a young lawyer, it is easy to get wrapped up in the demands of billable hours, multiple deadlines and a sharp learning curve. Although we all understand the importance of meeting and often exceeding our professional expectations, we cannot do so at the sacrifice of our personal lives. Thus, as we strive for excellence in our legal career, we cannot lose sight of the standards that define success in far more important terms. (more)
