Meet
Your President-elect Candidates:
David McAtee (Dallas) and Jennifer Rymell (Fort Worth)
I have had the privilege of knowing both TYLA President-elect
candidates, David McAtee and Jennifer Rymell, for several
years. That distinction, combined with the fact that as editor
I take the fun articles, gave me an opportunity to e-mail
both of the candidates a few questions that were on my mind,
and hopefully are on yours as well. They range from relevant
questions about the future of TYLA to irrelevant questions
about their favorite foods. Read on to find out interesting
tidbits about each, and don’t forget to vote this month –
ballots will be mailed out April 15 and must be returned by
April 30. (more

Denise Rios - San Antonio
I have the pleasure of presenting Denise Rios
as this month’s featured Texas young lawyer. Denise is an
associate with the San Antonio office of Holland & Knight,
LLP. Over the past few years, I’ve come to know Denise well.
Denise is one of those few lawyers I’ve met that, in the event
I ever needed counsel, I would turn to her because she is
a tremendous and talented young lawyer. Yet, I would also
like to have her as opposing counsel on a case because she
is a a true professional and really decent person. (Click

Christina Melton Crain Takes Over as the
Texas "Czar" of Criminal Justice
On February 17, 2003, Governor Rick Perry named
Christina Melton Crain, Immediate Past President of the Dallas
Association of Young Lawyers, as chair of the Texas Board
of Criminal Justice (the Board).
Crain’s talent for getting things done should serve
her well while managing one of the largest state agencies,
hardened criminals, and budget cuts.
