Texas Bar Leaders Get Inspired in Houston
    By David C. Courreges
Sarah Foskitt, Mari Robinson, Amy Welborn, David Courreges, and Bill Miller - Bill Miller presents a TYLA Award of Achievement to the Austin Young Lawyers Association

If you were one of the thousands of people who journeyed to Houston 's Galleria during the last weekend of July, you probably noticed several new fashions being sported by the more stylish patrons. It is quite possible that you wondered where you might pick up one of those awesome blue polos, elegant red t-shirts, or trendy personalized black lanyards. To be fortunate enough to possess one of these highly coveted items, you had to be a participant of the 2007 Bar Leaders Conference. (Cont.)

    Tips for Young Lawyers

Should I Stay or Should I Go
    By Morgan Sheinberg Warren, Esq.

You go to the doctor for your annual check-up. You get your oil changed every 3,000 miles. But do you ever talk to a professional to take stock of your career? Most people don't. Today's legal job market looks very different from that of years ago, when lawyers started at a firm after law school, made partner in a definitive amount of time and ultimately retired from that same firm. Top 4 Myths Surrounding the Government Attorney
    By Amanda Arriaga

    Amanda Arriaga

When you hear the term “government attorney” what image pops into your head? Do you picture the high-powered District Attorney, or maybe you think of some schlub with a threadbare suit, clutching his donut with one hand, and a cup of Sanka with the other? Maybe you picture some slacker who starts his day at noon and ends it as soon as the first happy hour begins?

    ABA/YLD Update

    San Francisco Treat!
This year's ABA YLD Annual Meeting, held in San Francisco in conjunction with the ABA 's Annual Meeting, ran from August 9 through 11. Many Texas young lawyers attended the meeting, received awards for the 2006-2007 bar year, attended CLE and bar leadership programming, and enjoyed sights and sounds of one of the most diverse cities in the nation.

Texas Young Leaders in the Spotlight

An important part of any ABA YLD Annual Meeting is Assembly, a two-day affair where young lawyer delegates from every state spend two days celebrating past successes and foreshadowing the great work to be done by the young bar in the year to come. (Cont.)

If you have any questions about ABA/YLD conferences or projects, please contact: Kimberly Burke, ABA/YLD District 25 Representative or Chris Rogers, ABA /YLD District 26 Representative through these email links.
