You're Invited!
By Marshall Wood, TYLA President -
It’s the start of a new bar year and the Texas Young Lawyers Association is off and running. A number of projects are planned for this year and you're invited to be a part of it. If you are interested in getting involved in your community or with your bar, then TYLA is the place for you. Nowhere else will you find better volunteering, networking, and professional opportunities for young lawyers than with the Texas Young Lawyers Association, or one of its many local affiliates. Local Affiliate Leader
David
Chaumette, HYLA
Laughter
is a sweet tonic for many of life’s ailments, including boredom.
If you are ever in need of a prescription for laughter, I
suggest David Chaumette, the President of the Houston Young
Lawyers Association, whose booming laugh will cure the worst
case of boredom. Earlier this year in Seattle, I had the good
fortune of being rescued from death by boredom at CLE by David.
David is an engaging young lawyer who has been blessed with
a talent for story telling, conversation, and, more importantly,
leadership.

Don't Specialize In That--Help!
By Hugh Coleman -
When
I graduated from law school, I moved back to my hometown to
practice law. While settling back into being home, I was told
by a family friend that there were two things that I could

Now, I have tried to follow this advice
and I think the direction these axioms have pointed me has
been sound. However, I have always had a question in my
mind: If to be successful you need to specialize, what are
you supposed to do when someone asks you for advice on a
subject in which you do not practice?
