Our
New Years’ resolutions to get in shape and burn off
those extra holiday pounds are almost as much a staple of
the annual calendar as the holidays themselves – and
the same could be said of our perennial departures from those
resolutions in February or March! But the connection between
the holidays, the New Year, and fitness runs deeper than these
half-hearted aspirations to miraculously morph into a supermodel
by swimsuit season. Obesity and related concerns – heart
conditions, diabetes, high blood pressure, and the like –
are rapidly becoming dominant, serious public health issues
for our generation of Texans and Americans.(continued)

An Aggie
lawyer marries a Longhorn lawyer. Sounds like a recipe for spontaneous
combustion at the dinner table, especially around Thanksgiving.
But, in the case of Tara and Jason Hoelscher of San Antonio,
other than one brawl at an A&M/UT tailgate party, life has
been nothing but sweet dessert. Often in life, Tara and Jason
have found themselves on opposite sides of the fence, yet they
always gravitated to each other. In the process they have helped
each other become better individuals and lawyers.

Is
it already 2004? What did I accomplish in 2003? Like many
others, you may be in the process of inventing New Years Resolutions.
Will you try to eat healthier? Stop smoking? Exercise more?
If you are like me, you may be a bit anxious about vocalizing
your resolutions out of fear you may not succeed at keeping
them. What is important to keep in mind is that you should
not bite off more than you can chew, literally. Below are
a few “tips” to help you in setting and keeping
your New Years Resolutions.

Changes
to the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure

Court has made various changes to the Texas Rules of Civil
Procedure in response to the requirements under House Bill
4, the omnibus tort-reform legislation passed in the last
regular session. These rules affect settlement offers, class
actions, and referral fees.
